Torque Wrenches
Torque wrenches let you control tightening torque wherever a bolted joint has to be made to a specified torque value. Our range includes models for low and high torque, mechanical and electronic wrenches, and designs that take a variety of sockets and bits. Start your choice by working out what torque values you need for the work you do and how wide a range of applications the tool should cover.

How to choose a torque wrench for the work you do
The most important selection criterion is the torque range expressed in Nm. If you are buying a wrench for a specific task, start by checking the torque value required for that joint – in the documentation for the vehicle, machine or component being fitted. Then choose a wrench whose declared working range covers that value.
Buying a tool for a workshop or service centre that handles many different jobs is a different matter. In that case, it is worth listing the lowest and highest torque values that come up in typical jobs and only then choosing the range or set of wrenches. A single very wide range will not always replace two tools designed for clearly different torque values.
Bicycle servicing is a good example. The stem, handlebar, levers and seatpost clamp often call for values of a few Nm, while the cassette, pedals, Center Lock lockrings and some bottom bracket components may require several tens of Nm. That is why a mechanic working on different parts of a bike may need more than one wrench. We have covered this particular case in more detail in our guide on how to choose a bike torque wrench.
Match the Nm range to your actual applications
The range stated for a wrench defines the values the tool is designed to work at. So before buying, it is worth answering two questions: what torque will you set most often, and what minimum and maximum values actually come up in your work.
The category includes both tools that work at very low torque and wrenches designed for values in the hundreds of Nm. For example, models with a 1/4" drive are available in ranges starting from 1–2 Nm, while torque wrenches with a 3/4" drive can deliver several hundred Nm, and wrenches with a 1" drive as much as 2500 Nm.
If the work you do covers a wide spread of values, treat the range as the first criterion for narrowing down the offer. Only then compare the design, accuracy, type of readout and equipment of individual models.
Mechanical or electronic torque wrench?
Our range includes both mechanical torque wrenches and electronic torque wrenches.
A mechanical wrench is the natural choice when you mainly need to set a specific torque and repeatably carry out typical assembly or service work. Individual models differ in how they work, how they signal that the set value has been reached, and how they must be stored after use, so it is worth comparing specific wrenches rather than treating all mechanical wrenches as a single solution.
An electronic wrench offers additional ways to read and monitor the tightening process. Available models include functions such as torque measurement, torque and angle measurement and – on selected devices – Bluetooth connectivity. If you also need to control tightening by angle of rotation, go straight to electronic wrenches with torque and angle measurement.
Drive and interchangeable heads – match the wrench to the way you work
Once you have settled on the right range, check how the wrench connects to the socket or working end. This matters both for compatibility with the equipment you already have and for ease of use.
For wrenches with a standard square drive, you can go straight to models with a:
- 1/4" drive – available, among others, in low torque ranges,
- 1/2" drive – covering many ranges used in workshop and automotive work,
- 3/4" drive – used in available models for high torque values as well.
An alternative is wrenches with a holder for interchangeable insert tools. Our range includes, among others, 9x12 mm and 14x18 mm designs, which can be fitted with suitable heads and bits depending on the job.
However, drive size alone should not replace choosing the range. First determine the torque values you need, then choose the wrench design and bits for the joints you actually work on.
Accuracy, documentation and future calibration
If the wrench will be used professionally or on joints that require a controlled assembly process, before buying also check the declared accuracy of the specific model, the documentation supplied with the tool and whether it can later be checked and calibrated.
A torque tool requires periodic checks, and their frequency should depend on how it is used, the manufacturer's recommendations and the requirements of the given process. At TorqueShop we offer servicing and calibration of torque tools, including calibration of manual torque wrenches up to 3000 Nm as well as periodic inspections and repairs.
FAQ
Do you have certified torque wrenches?
Yes. Our range includes torque wrenches supplied with documentation confirming their specifications and compliance with the requirements for torque tools, including ISO 6789. The scope of documentation depends on the specific model. For selected wrenches, you can also order certification accredited by PCA (Polish Centre for Accreditation).
Do you have torque wrench sets?
Yes. We offer ready-made torque sets in which the wrench comes with matching bits or interchangeable heads. One example is a set with a 40–200 Nm wrench, a 1/2" ratchet and a complete set of interchangeable open-end heads, supplied in a case. A set like this works well where a single tool has to handle different types of joints.
