Torque Screwdrivers
Torque screwdrivers tighten screws and fasteners to a precisely controlled torque, especially in precision joints. We offer manual mechanical, electronic and electromechanical models from Stahlwille, BMS Ireland and King Tony for assembly, service and quality control, covering ranges from the cNm level up to 15 Nm.

Start with the right torque range
Start with the torque required for the joint. The screwdriver's range must cover it with a margin: we recommend a maximum torque at least about 20% above the highest value you will use regularly.
Check the unit: for low torques you will see both Nm and cNm (100 cNm = 1 Nm), so a 40-300 cNm model works in the 0.4-3 Nm range.
If you make several types of joints, the range must cover all of them. With a wide spread of values, two screwdrivers with better-matched ranges may be more practical than one.
Mechanical, electronic or electromechanical?
Choose the type according to how the torque is controlled and whether you need to record the joints made.

Assembly, service and repetitive tightening to a preset torque |
Simple operation without electronics; slip-clutch and dial designs. |

Processes combining mechanical release with digital control and documentation |
Mechanical torque signal plus electronic measurement and data recording. |
Mechanical Stahlwille TORSIOMAX screwdrivers have a slip clutch that stops the torque from rising once the set value is reached, which suits repetitive tightening of sensitive joints. The TORSIOMETER series has a dial readout so the operator can watch the torque during work.
BMS electronic models are built for accurate measurement; selected versions offer Peak, Track and Preset functions and result memory. For passing data on, we also offer torque screwdrivers with Bluetooth, which can transmit results and joint status.
The Stahlwille TORSIOTRONIC series combines digital measurement with a mechanical signal when the set torque is reached, and can save results for later transfer to a computer.
Hand-held screwdriver or a tool for series production?
A hand-held torque screwdriver suits assembly, service, quality control and processes with a limited number of precise joints.
For intensive series production, cycle speed and operator strain matter too. For this we offer pneumatic torque screwdrivers and cordless torque tools. Base your choice on the number of joints per shift and the workstation setup.
Do you need documentation of the joints made?
If the tool only needs to tighten a joint to a given torque, a mechanical slip-clutch screwdriver may be enough.
For quality control, traceability or later analysis, choose an electronic or electromechanical model that records results. In advanced processes, Bluetooth versions can also send data to a system and report whether a joint was completed correctly.
Remember to check and calibrate your tool
A torque screwdriver is a measuring instrument, so its condition directly affects joint repeatability. Regularly used tools need periodic inspection and calibration.
We offer service and calibration of torque tools for both mechanical and electronic screwdrivers.

FAQ
What torque screwdriver should an electrician use?
An electrician needs a torque range matched to the values required by the equipment manufacturer, for example for terminals, circuit breakers and switchboards. These are often relatively low values, so a precision screwdriver with a low range and clear adjustment works well.
Safety matters too: for work near live components, use properly insulated tools designed for such work, in line with the installation manufacturer's requirements and safety rules. Always set the torque according to the documentation of the specific component.
What torque screwdriver should be used for firearms?
For firearm servicing, choose a precision torque screwdriver with a range matching the values specified by the manufacturer of the given component. This matters for stock screws, scope mounts, rails and other accessories, where excessive torque can damage the thread or mounting part.
The best choice is a model that sets low torque values accurately and works with suitable bits. Never choose the Nm value "by feel" - use the specification of the firearm, mount or accessory manufacturer.
